We prepare the medical and public health community to confront terrorism through specialized training that transforms preparedness, strengthens resilience, and elevates response in complex and evolving threat environments.

Counter‑Terrorism Medicine (CTM)  is a global healthcare initiative first established in 2015 by our Board of Advisors Chairman,  Professor Gregory Ciottone. The Disaster Medicine Institute's specialized course in CTM draws on the expertise of our distinguished faculty, who together bring more than 100 years of experience in preparing for and responding to terrorist incidents across government, military, and civilian sectors.

The training program emphasizes the distinct elements of mitigating, preparing for, and responding to terrorist events, including the health service support challenges posed by asymmetric threats and weapons of mass destruction.

In addition to developing a strong operational foundation, students gain a strategic understanding of how terrorism influences public health systems, emergency management, and policy. Through real‑world case studies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scenario‑based learning, participants refine the skills needed to anticipate emerging threats, support resilient healthcare infrastructures, and lead effective responses within complex and evolving environments”
